One vital question, to everyone who wants to visit Paxos for a daily trip or for vacation is which are the available transportation option, their cost and the departures in order to organize it.
As for a daily trip there are several cruises that depart from the main Corfu port or from the port of Lefkimmi. More convenient if your accommodation is in South, however, If your accommodation is in the North part, check Kassiopi port. Firstly, takes you to Antipaxos with the wonderful beaches and some to Sivota (Blue Lagoon) or Parga. They start about 9:00 in the morning and last the whole day. An average price is 40€ per person. For further information check some of the following sites: www.joycruises.gr www.sarriscruises.gr
If you plan to spend your vacation on the magnificent island of Paxos, there are currently five options. I will demonstrate them right now writing the pros and cons according to my opinion and my experience.
- The hydrofoil from Corfu town port
That means that you have to take a taxi from the airport (it is 10min drive with normal summer traffic). The hydrofoil departs just behind Sette Venti Boulangerie and just opposite is the ticket office of Joy Cruises company which owns it. Of course in busy summer months it is recommend it to have your ticket already booked. The ticket costs 35€ one way. You can book here https://eticket.flyingdolphins.gr/
It takes an hour to reach Paxos island.
This year this company has also another boat called Azimuth (28€) that takes about two hours to reach Paxos and departs from the same place. So before booking check at the departures which ship you will get in order to know the time of your arrival.
For further information and updated departures visit www.joycruises.gr
There is also a new company with hydrofoil that takes 1 hour to reach and they have same ticket price 35€. You can enter their site www.kerkyralines.com to book and these are their departures. (Right now they stopped for 2023)
- The Kamelia lines ferry
Kamelia lines had a great service that departs directly from the airport. You find their representative there and you enter their coach. After 50min drive you are in Lefkimmi port and from there you leave by their ferry that takes 40min to reach Paxos. Their bus also departs from Corfu port. The one way ticket costs 30€ but with return 50€
You can book directly from their site www.kamelialines.gr
- The private sea taxi
This option is quite expensive but a sea taxi is private (it takes 8 passengers) and it departs by appointment which means that you can easily combine it with your flight. The cost is about 450€ per route. For more information you can enter https://fasoulias-lines.business.site/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=referral
- The ferry boat
If you have a car that you need to transfer to Paxos (i believe it is better to rent one there). If you are coming from Igoumenitsa port the only way to reach Paxos is by ferry boat. In summer time there are two departures per day. Take the ferry boat from Corfu port that needs two hours to reach Igoumenitsa and then two more hours to reach Paxos. An average cost for a car and a passenger is 80€ one way. You can book your tickets easily online at www.kerkyraseaways.gr or www.kerkyralines.gr
- The Lefkada Palace boat
This boat connects all the Ionian islands. So if you are in an other of them you can easily reach Paxos too. It takes some time but has cheap tickets and you can easily explore the nature beauty of the islands. It will starts by the 24th of April 2023 and ends by the 1st of October 2023.
